I’m way behind in posting photos because I had to move some photos off of my computer in order to make room for new ones, and everyone knows that takes about a month to actually accomplish.
Quick update on Eric’s Spanish-speaking skills. Overheard while he was playing a videogame recently: “Qué tipo de bad guys am I going to find here?” I’m excited. Spanglish is a wonderful language. I encourage its use wherever I go.
So starting where I left off from our trip to the Costa Rican border, Boquete, and Santa Catalina…
Picking bananas for breakfast underneath our treehouse in Boquete:
Our pool in Boquete. They found a giant rock in the bottom of it when they were digging it and decided it wasn’t worth it to move it, so they just left it and painted a turtle on it. Made me laugh!

Another view of the beautiful property:
The cabin we stayed in the second night, after our border run:
The weird hump-backed cows along the drive:
The pig I chased down on the side of the road:
Hotel Santa Catalina, partially owned by some friends of ours. Beautiful place to stay in a great surfing town.

They’re building a restaurant and an infinity pool!
Training for capoeira on the beach!

This amazing meal was prepared in a restaurant that didn’t have walls…or any customers besides us.
Here’s the kitchen and rest of the restaurant…amazing, huh?
When we got back, we had a pretty big roda out on the Cinta Costera. A few other capoeira groups came out – some of whom practiced different styles from what we practice. It was a definite learning experience, but it was also a lot of fun. This is me esquiva-ing (dodging) a kick from my friend George.
In the middle of doing a meia lua de compasso (I’m about to kick over his head):
